Suggestions?

So the first podcast is recorded. But we're going to have to keep things lighter later on. We need more spontaneity, more freewheeling. Maybe a way to achieve this is by appointing one of the three of us to dictate the topics of the podcast and the other two come in cold? Also, we should stay away from anything too mainstream, I think. Get odd news stories, or delve into little-known philosophies.

What do we think? Discuss.

John;

I think that if one of us provides stories and the other three of us come in cold, we are going to have some interesting problems. *Chuckles*

I don't think that we should avoid the mainstream -- however, I think that by beginning with the offbeat and the little-known we will have more fun, and therefore be more enjoyable to listen to. How offbeat are we talking? Like Reuter's Oddly Enough? New Oxford Review's odd / quirky / serious style? Steven Colbert?

It matters!

Granted, I have never been that good at math.

I don't mean the weird, so much as something the other... two (ahem) aren't familiar with. I just don't want to be caught going over ground familiar to us. That gets boring for us and boring for our listeners.

Aye. I think that doing that ought to be a good help.

Also, I have been going through what we have -- I think we should use this "first" podcast as a preview track and mix it up a bit. I post what I have done with the tagline ... let me know what you think.

Who ought to be first?

Well you sure got MY attention with that interesting bit about the three people dividing into one and the other three.

Would we write 3+1 = 3 then? I guess it depends on the meaning of "+"... and yes, I can show you mathematical horrors that would blow your socks off.

Am I to understand this means that a certain small College in Virginia is adjusting to the "New" Ontology? hee hee. You know it's an extension of the bit about how Isaiah wasn't written by that Isaiah, but by two other guys who were both called Isaiah. Or something.

OK, but if this was anything more than a simple typo, please let me know. It might be useful as well as fun.

I don't know if I can get these "pods" here; the hamsters which run on the wheels inside my computer might not like that. (When I give them hard work to do, they often make me come in and help.) However, I will byte that bullet when I come to it.

Best wishes on the new blogg, and I hope your mathematical congestion clears up soon. If not, you should see your staff ontologist. Sure, all the big companies are hiring them nowadays. Or should be. (See GKC's Heretics for why.)

Oh yes. Speaking of "little-known" philosophies, I'd suggest "moderate realism" (I think that is what Gilson called it). Or at least a nice whopper of a talk about Chesterton. Or Aquinas. All the other "little-known" philosophies are far too well known, and have been debunked, some of them over 1119 years ago.

Thanks for your attention to this.

Ah yes... the ontologist will see you now. One at a time please.

Yes, there is talk of a new medium being used in Northern Virginia. Something other than quill and parchment. We'll see how this goes. It grew on its own, outside of the new technologies news...

And the three thing was, indeed, a typo. Sorry to mislead.

I went ahead and got rid of that type that was causing so much confusion. Apparently I can do that. John, consider yourself censored.
